So, What Is Sea Moss?
It’s my duty to please your beauty, and today’s topic is about CHONDRUS CRISPUS EXTRACT (aka: Sea Moss). So what exactly is Sea Moss? Sea Moss is a ‘spiny sea plant’ that’s similar to other seaweeds and algae. When researching Sea Moss you may find positive feedback involving potential benefits, but unfortunately there is not enough ‘Scientific Evidence’ conducted involving this item. With that being said, women that are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid consuming Sea Moss.
Pros and Cons of Iodine
Sea Moss may come in different colors, for example: red, yellow, purple, black and brown. Consumers intake Sea Moss for its source of vitamins and minerals, but be aware that consuming large amounts of Sea Moss may lead to intaking high levels of Iodine. WebMD states “Irish Moss and other seaweeds can provide important health benefits. For example, seaweed is rich in Iodine, which is an important nutrient for your thyroid. Iodine helps your thyroid produce hormones that control your metabolism, nerves, and bone growth.” Keep in mind that a high Iodine level intake may cause thyroid issues, which could lead to thyroid gland inflammation and/or thyroid cancer, increase high blood pressure and/or increase blood glucose.
How Much Sea Moss Should I Consume?
Always check with your supplier but it’s usually recommended to consume no more than 1-2 TBS per day, and in my opinion it’s better to mix/blend with another source of food or liquid to help with taste (for example: applesauce, soup or even a smoothie).
More Health Benefits Involving Sea Moss
Now that we have discussed the cons of Sea Moss, it’s time to discuss the pros. Sea Moss has a variety of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that may benefit the overall health of the body. Sea Moss contains Vitamin A, which improves sebum production and Vitamin E, which improves hair growth.
According to WebMD, some of the nutrients contained in Sea Moss includes Vitamin B2, Vitamin B12, Calcium, Chromium, Magnesium, and Zinc. Sea Moss contains more than 90% of the nutrients our body needs, and there are 92 of the 110 minerals within Sea Moss.
More Potential Benefits may include supporting weight loss, supporting gut health, supporting immune health, helping in the fight against cancer, supporting fertility, supporting muscle and energy recovery, and more.
My Personal Experience
I absolutely love Sea Moss, and I've been intaking it for over a year. Keep in mind that each supplier is different, depending on the manufacturing process. When purchasing Sea Moss Gel, you may have a ‘smooth gel-like texture’ or a ‘thick and clumpy texture’. The texture has nothing to do with the quality of the Sea Moss, these examples are just different types of manufacturing procedures and it is up to you on deciding the texture preference.
Originally I was purchasing from https://www.organicsnature.co/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAosmPBhCPARIsAHOen-M7DdcZqesPS3iUVfVNkjOpEDkeRVMCdrfVPrL7_UfxTTW_qQr06qUaAvCbEALw_wcB
Which has the ‘smooth gel-like texture’ but I’ve recently switched suppliers over the holidays and fell in love with https://islandgirlsseamoss.com/
Island Girls Sea Moss has a thicker texture but I can also instantly notice an immediate difference between the two suppliers. Not even five minutes after intaking Island Girls Sea Moss I could feel a ‘burst’ of energy that lasts for a good amount of time. In my opinion I also believe that their Sea Moss tastes more fresh and pure, with a better manufacturing process compared to other suppliers.
Since I started intaking Sea Moss I've noticed an increased improvement with energy, hair growth and my skin. I am absolutely obsessed, which is why I am sharing this information with you.
